Our History - About Us Silver Cloud Wedding Cars had a very humble beginning. Ken Collins, the owner and operator of the business, started in the industry as a trainee with The Automobile Agency Wedding and Hire Cars.

Ken wanted to be around his passion, classic motor cars, and at that time could not afford to own one of his own, so he did the very next best thing, drive them.

Applying for the job was also difficult, because Ken had no experience. He was told "you just don't get in a drive a wedding car son, there is a lot more to it than that. You need to learn a lot about wedding etiquette!". However the company did give him a start as a trainee chauffeur driver.

Working a few Saturdays a month he took his training to heart and threw himself into the business, he very much enjoyed the day's outings, driving the cars he loved and being apart of the weddings. Unlike other drivers who turned up just to drive, Ken enjoyed every minute of it, "Weddings are fun, and I love being apart them" he would say.

While there is the part of the chauffeur to play, and certain etiquette to follow, on the wedding day, Ken always went a little further, becoming an intricate part of the process. Assisting in adjusting dresses, holding flowers, pouring the champagne and the best part of all, assisting the bride in and out of the cars right up to setting the train just before she walks down the isle, smiling brightly as she goes, Ken appreciates what the day means for the couple.

Ken asked for more work and was promoted to head chauffeur and conductor of the wedding cars on the day.

Now working every Saturday and many Sundays, Ken decided to invest in two classic cars with the extra he was earning. He found what he wanted in a pair of old classic Bentleys, a 1949 and 1950 model, and he lovingly restored both of them and slowly paid them off. Those two Bentleys are still operating in his fleet today.

As time passed, Ken left The Automobile Agency and partnered with another wedding car company. By this time Ken owned his Bentleys and purchased two 1948 classic Jaguars all painted beautifully in black-over silver.

Over the years Ken has always constantly looked for quality in the vehicles he selects to be added to the fleet, only ever wanting "his brides" - as he calls them - to have the very best.

Now operating from his own warehouse in Rydalmere (Sydney) Ken has a fleet of 27 wonderful cars. He is still very much enjoying the wedding car business and his enthusiasm is as it was when he started in 1979.

Ken's friendly nature and passion for his business is testament to the hundreds, yes hundreds, of weddings that Silver Cloud Wedding Cars complete every year.

And you will still often hear Ken say "You take care!"
